Questions & Answers

Below are some questions we at Cabo Transfers frequently receive regarding our service, airport transfers and the Los Cabos area. This is a good place to look for common information about Cabo Transfers. You may also review the rest of the site for much more information.

Getting Started

Pre-booking your Cabo airport transportation offers three advantages that airport taxis cannot match: guaranteed availability, transparent pricing, and a driver who is confirmed and waiting for you specifically.

Official airport taxis at SJD charge fixed zone rates. A one-way taxi to Cabo San Lucas costs approximately $80–$95 USD for up to 4 passengers, often cash-only. A pre-booked private transfer with Cabo Transfers costs less for the same journey and includes a bilingual driver, a late-model insured vehicle, flight monitoring, and no cash required. Beyond price, pre-booked drivers monitor your flight in real time, so if you're delayed, they adjust at no extra charge.

Yes, with a pre-booked, licensed transportation service. Los Cabos is one of Mexico's most visited and tourist-friendly destinations, and airport transport is generally safe when you book with a registered, insured provider.

Cabo Transfers is a federally registered transportation company with fully licensed drivers, late-model insured vehicles, and years of service to US and Canadian travellers. What you want to avoid is accepting unsolicited offers from drivers inside the terminal or at the curb. These may be unlicensed operators. Always walk past the timeshare desks inside the terminal and go directly outside to your confirmed driver, who will be holding a sign with your name.

No. Uber, Lyft, and other ride-hailing apps are not permitted to pick up passengers curbside at Los Cabos International Airport (SJD). Due to local transportation regulations in Baja California Sur, rideshares cannot operate from the terminal pickup areas.

Your options from SJD are: a pre-booked private transfer, a shared shuttle, or an official airport taxi. Of these, a pre-booked service is almost always the most affordable and the most reliable. Your driver is confirmed, the price is fixed, and you don't have to negotiate anything after a long flight.

Choosing Your Service

A shared shuttle is the most economical option. You share the vehicle with other travellers heading to nearby destinations, and there may be a wait of up to 30 minutes at the airport while the vehicle fills. The shuttle makes a maximum of 3 hotel stops before reaching your destination. Shared shuttles are ideal for solo travellers or couples on a budget who don't mind a slightly longer journey.

A VIP Private Transfer gives your group exclusive use of the vehicle. Your driver goes directly to your hotel, condo, or villa with no other stops and no waiting. You can also add a grocery stop on the way. Private transfers are the better choice for families, large groups, travellers with significant luggage, and anyone who wants to start their vacation the moment they land.

All Cabo Transfers private transfers are VIP, so every private booking includes an exclusive vehicle, a bilingual certified driver, flight monitoring, and direct service to your destination. For groups requiring premium vehicles such as a sprinter van, motor coach, or specific type of vehicle, we recommend specifying your preferences at the time of booking so we can confirm availability. Our team can also accommodate special requests, such as beverages through our Concierge Service add-on, specific vehicle configurations, or child seats.

Yes. Cabo Transfers offers VIP Private Transfers that function as a private car with a dedicated bilingual driver. Your driver is assigned exclusively to your group for the duration of the transfer. There are no shared passengers, additional stops, and or fixed routes. You choose your pickup location (SJD Airport or anywhere in Los Cabos) and your drop-off destination. This is ideal for travellers who want the experience of a private car service without the complexity of renting and driving themselves in an unfamiliar destination.

Pricing, Payment & Bookings

Private transfer pricing with Cabo Transfers depends on your destination and group size. As a guide, private transfers start from $92 USD one-way and from $169 USD round-trip. Shared shuttle seats start from $18 USD per person one-way. Prices are fixed and confirmed at the time of booking, as there are no hidden fees, surge pricing, or cash required on arrival. Round-trip bookings receive a discounted rate compared to booking two separate one-way transfers. For a specific quote, use our Book Now tool or contact us directly.

Yes. Our rates are lower than the official airport taxis at SJD, primarily because we don't pay expensive kiosk rental fees inside the terminal. A pre-booked private transfer with Cabo Transfers to Cabo San Lucas starts from $92 USD and covers up to the vehicle capacity, making the per-person cost significantly lower than a taxi when travelling with a group.

The price you see is the price you pay. Toll road fees are included in your fare, with no cash required on arrival and no surprise charges at the end. Taxi drivers in Cabo operate under a monopoly structure that allows them to set their own rates, and fares are often cash-only with no flight monitoring or guaranteed meet-and-greet.

Cabo Transfers also monitors traffic conditions, weather, and local event disruptions in real time to select the most efficient route for every transfer, so you're not just getting a better price, you're getting a smarter ride.

Booking with Cabo Transfers takes less than five minutes. Click the Book Now button at the top of any page and complete the reservation request form with your flight details, contact information, pickup and drop-off locations, and passenger count. You can also email info@CaboTransfers.com or call us toll-free at 1-877-737-CABO (2226). We recommend requesting a booking as soon as your flights are confirmed to guarantee your preferred vehicle and service type. A confirmation will be sent to your email with your driver details and arrival instructions.

Yes. You can pay by credit card in advance of your arrival using our secure online booking system, which is processed through PayPal, one of the most trusted payment platforms for international transactions. Paying in advance guarantees your reservation and means you don't need to handle cash on arrival. If you prefer to pay your driver in cash on arrival, this is also accepted, however, we ask that cash-on-arrival passengers re-confirm their booking 24 hours before their flight.

Yes. Booking a round-trip transfer with Cabo Transfers is offered at a discounted rate compared to booking two separate one-way transfers. The round-trip discount is only available when the full round-trip payment is made at the time of booking. If you prefer to pay for each leg individually, the standard one-way rate applies to each transfer with no discount.

Arrivals

After your flight lands at Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), follow these steps: (1) Clear immigration and collect your luggage from baggage claim. (2) Clear customs. (3) Walk through the customs exit into the arrivals hall. You will pass timeshare representatives. Keep walking and do not stop. (4) Exit through the main terminal doors. (5) Your Cabo Transfers driver will be waiting outside the terminal with a printed welcome sign displaying your name. They will assist with your luggage and escort you to your vehicle.

Important: Your driver is always outside the terminal, not inside. Do not give your voucher to anyone inside the building.

Cabo Transfers monitors all airline schedules in real time. Whether your flight arrives early or late, your driver will be at the airport to meet you. There is no extra charge for flight delays, and you do not need to call us to let us know. Our team tracks your flight from the time of booking, so any changes are automatically reflected in your driver's schedule.

The main thing to be aware of is timeshare representatives. As you exit customs and walk through the arrivals hall toward the exit, you will likely be approached by people offering transportation, tours, and hotel deals. These are timeshare salespeople, and they are not affiliated with Cabo Transfers or any legitimate transportation company. The best approach is to keep walking, avoid eye contact, and do not show your transportation voucher to anyone inside the terminal. Your real driver is waiting outside with a sign displaying your name.

Travel Logistics

Travel times from Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) depend on your destination. San Jose del Cabo is approximately 15-20 minutes by private transfer. The Tourist Corridor (hotels between San Jose and Cabo San Lucas) is approximately 25–35 minutes. Cabo San Lucas is approximately 40–50 minutes. These are estimates for private transfers with no stops. Shared shuttles take longer due to the airport wait time (up to 30 minutes) and up to 3 hotel stops before reaching your destination. Travel times may also vary based on traffic and road conditions.

Yes, with a VIP Private Transfer. Private transfer passengers have the option to stop at a supermarket (such as Walmart, Costco, or a local grocery store) on the way to their hotel or condo. The grocery stop add-on is available for $40 USD for up to one hour. This option is not available on shared shuttles, as the vehicle serves multiple passengers with different destinations.

Cabo Transfers is licensed to provide transportation throughout the Los Cabos area and surrounding Baja California Sur. In addition to Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, we serve Todos Santos, Los Barriles, El Triunfo, La Fortuna, and the entire Tourist Corridor. We can also arrange transfers to more remote destinations on request. If your destination isn't listed on our Locations page, contact us, and we'll confirm availability.

Groups, Families, Weddings, and Special Needs

Yes. Cabo Transfers serves groups of all sizes. Our fleet includes Passenger Vans (up to 10), Toyota Hiace (up to 12), and Motor Coaches for larger parties. For events, weddings, and corporate groups, we can coordinate multi-vehicle transfers. Please note your group size when booking so we can assign the right vehicle. For groups of 15 or more, we recommend contacting us directly to discuss logistics.

Yes. Child car seats are available on request with VIP Private Transfers. Please specify the number of children and their ages when making your reservation so we can ensure the correct seat type is ready for your pickup. All Cabo Transfers drivers are trained on proper car seat installation and are happy to assist. You're also welcome to bring your own car seat if you prefer, and your driver will be glad to help you install it. Child seats are not available on shared shuttles.

For VIP Private Transfers, there is no set luggage limit as long as your bags fit in the vehicle type reserved. If you have an unusually large amount of luggage, oversized items, or sports equipment (golf bags, surfboards), please let us know at the time of booking so we can assign the right vehicle. For shared shuttle passengers, we ask that you limit luggage to 2 suitcases and 2 carry-on items per person.

Yes. Cabo Transfers provides professional wedding transportation throughout the Los Cabos area, including multi-vehicle coordination for bridal parties, guests, and event logistics.

We work directly with couples and destination wedding planners to arrange timely, seamless transfers for groups of any size. Couples can pre-pay for some or all of their guests' rides, and we provide a shareable booking link that can be added to your wedding website or sent directly to guests so they can book their own transfers with your details already in place.

Wedding transportation is priced at our standard rates. We don't offer group discounts for weddings, as multi-vehicle event coordination involves additional logistics, but the process is designed to be as simple as possible for you and your guests. Wedding planners who refer clients are accommodated through our standard commission arrangement.

For wedding transportation enquiries, please visit our Weddings page or contact us directly to discuss your timeline and group size.

Yes. In addition to airport transfers, Cabo Transfers provides private transportation to restaurants, tours, day trips, golf courses, marinas, and any other destination in the Los Cabos area. If you have activities booked and need reliable transportation to get there and back, without depending on taxis or resort shuttles, we can arrange a private driver for your group.

This is particularly useful for early-morning fishing charters (which often depart before 6am), multi-stop day trips such as a Todos Santos excursion, evening dinner reservations at restaurants outside the resort corridor, and multi-vehicle group coordination for tours and events.

For tour and activity bookings, visit our partner site caboactivities.com, which covers everything from sunset cruises to ATV tours, food and drink experiences, and seasonal wildlife tours.

Whale watching season in Los Cabos runs from December through April, with January through March offering the best conditions. During this period, humpback and grey whales migrate through the waters off Baja California Sur, where grey whales travel to Magdalena Bay on the Pacific side to breed, while humpbacks are commonly sighted in the Sea of Cortez.

Baby whale sightings are most common in January and February. Whales are sometimes visible from resort balconies and beaches, but a guided whale watching tour gives you the best chance of close encounters. Tours depart from the Cabo San Lucas Marina. Browse whale watching tours at caboactivities.com.

Yes. Both Todos Santos and La Paz are popular day trip destinations from Cabo San Lucas.

Todos Santos is approximately 1 hour north of Cabo San Lucas on the Pacific coast. It's a charming artist's village known for its galleries, farm-to-table cafes, boutique shops, craft markets, and the Hotel California. Todos Santos is also a surfing destination with powerful Pacific break beaches.

La Paz, the capital of Baja California Sur, is approximately 2 hours from Cabo San Lucas. It offers sea lion snorkelling tours in the Sea of Cortez, whale shark encounters (November - March), a beautiful waterfront malecon, and a more authentic Mexican city experience than the tourist corridor.

Cabo Transfers serves both Todos Santos and La Paz. See our Locations page for details. Browse tours and guided day trips at caboactivities.com.
