Los Cabos

Los Cabos

A Jewel at Land's End

Los Cabos, located at the very tip of the Baja Peninsula, is a unique destination where the calm, crystalline waters of the Sea of Cortez meet the mighty blue Pacific Ocean. This breathtaking paradise, renowned for its stunning natural beauty, originated as a small fishing community in the early 1900s. It was once a favorite stop for pirates waiting in tranquil coves for unsuspecting trade ships to round the cape.

The local culture is a vibrant blend of Spanish and Mexican influences, evident in the region's architecture, cuisine, and traditions. During John Steinbeck's journey through the Cortez in 1940, Cabo San Lucas was still a small village reliant on the bounty of its surrounding waters. However, by the 1950s, the area had transformed into a popular playground for celebrities and affluent adventure-seekers. Notable figures such as Ernest Hemingway and Jean Harlow visited Los Cabos to enjoy its natural beauty and tranquility.

Cabo remained a secluded gem, accessible only by private plane or boat, until the early 1970s. The completion of Mexico's Highway 1 opened the floodgates for travelers. RVs, buses, and family station wagons began making their way to the Golden Cape. With the construction of an international airport and the expansion of the marina, planes and cruise ships brought even more visitors to this exclusive paradise, enhancing its sense of privilege and allure.
