Your SJD Arrival Guide

A small boat carrying passengers navigates bright turquoise water near towering, rugged rock formations under a partly cloudy blue sky. A prominent natural stone arch, known as El Arco, stands carved into the cliffs, with a small sandy beach visible on the right.

How to Find Your Driver at SJD

Where to go after customs and how to locate your Cabo Transfers driver outside the terminal

Your Journey: Private Transfer

What the ride from SJD to your hotel looks like in a dedicated private vehicle

Step-by-Step: How to Get from the Plane to Your Driver

1
Land and clear immigration.
Follow signs for immigration and have your passport and any required entry forms ready.

2
Collect your luggage.
Baggage claim is located after immigration. Check the individual display board at each carousel for your flight number and destination — boards may show multiple flights at once.

3
Clear customs.
A straightforward process for most travelers. Declare any required items and proceed through the exit.

4
Walk through the arrivals hall and keep moving.
After clearing customs, proceed through the sliding glass doors past the Time Share Sales Area. Do not stop. Timeshare representatives may approach you and claim to work for the airport or your transportation company. They do not. Do not show your voucher to anyone inside the terminal. Continue through the next set of sliding doors, turn right, and exit the terminal.

5
Find your Cabo Transfers representative.
Walk straight forward to the tented areas directly in front of the terminal. Your representative will be waiting under Tent #10 in a yellow shirt and khaki pants, holding a Cabo Transfers welcome sign. Private transfer guests have the option to personalize the sign with their name or group name — just request this at the time of booking. Your representative will help with your luggage and walk you to your vehicle.

Terminal 1 or Terminal 2?

Most international flights from the US and Canada arrive at Terminal 2, where your Cabo Transfers driver will be waiting under Tent #10 directly outside the terminal. Domestic Mexican flights typically arrive at Terminal 1, which has a separate ground transportation pickup area. Your driver is assigned to the correct terminal based on the flight details you provide at time of booking, so you do not need to figure this out on arrival. If you are unsure which terminal your flight uses, check your boarding pass or the Los Cabos Airport website

Please note that Terminal 2 is currently undergoing a major renovation. The two terminals are scheduled to be combined into one by 2027-2028, so returning visitors may notice changes from previous trips.

What if My Flight is Delayed or Arrives Early?

Cabo Transfers monitors all airline schedules in real time from the moment of booking. Whether your flight arrives early or late, your driver will be at the airport to meet you. There is no extra charge for delays and you do not need to call us. Our team tracks your flight automatically and adjusts your driver's schedule accordingly.

Arriving at Night

SJD Airport operates 24 hours and Cabo Transfers provides transfers at all hours. A few things to keep in mind for late arrivals:

  • Head straight to Tent #10 when you exit the terminal - someone from the Cabo Transfers team will be waiting there regardless of what time your flight lands.
  • Late arrivals are monitored the same way as daytime flights, so our team will already know your updated arrival time.
  • Less traffic at night typically means a faster ride to your hotel.
  • Stick close to our Cabo Transfers representative once outside the terminal and head directly to your vehicle.

Arriving with Young Children

  • Child car seats are available on all transfers at no extra charge, but must be requested in advance at the time of booking. Please note that on shared shuttles, a child traveling in a car seat is counted as a passenger.
  • Private transfers are recommended for families with young children. No waiting for other passengers, and you can load your luggage and get settled at your own pace.
  • Our drivers are trained in car seat installation and are happy to assist. If you prefer to bring your own car seat, please share the make and model at the time of booking so your driver can research installation details before your arrival.
  • Strollers are accommodated in all vehicles. If you are traveling with a lot of gear, such as strollers, car seats, or pack-n-plays, let us know at the time of booking so we can assign the right-sized vehicle.
  • All Cabo Transfers vehicles are fully insured and air-conditioned. Our salaried drivers are never incentivized to speed, giving parents one less thing to worry about on arrival.

Arriving with a Large Group

If your group is arriving on the same flight, your driver or meet and greet representative will get everyone together before heading to the vehicle. For groups split across multiple flights:

  • Let us know at the time of booking if your group is arriving on different flights
  • We will assign drivers to each arrival and handle the coordination through our dedicated Groups Management Team
  • Group vehicles include the Toyota Hiace (up to 10 passengers) and Ford Transit (up to 16 passengers), with motor coach options available for larger groups
  • Some groups prefer multiple smaller vehicles such as Cadillac Escalades, Lincoln Navigators, or Chevrolet Suburbans for added comfort and flexibility
  • Contact us directly for group arrivals that need custom planning
